The Rockies' No. 3 prospect was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI as Colorado defeated the Chicago White Sox, 8-5, on Wednesday in Cactus League action.
Rosario played a big part in the Rockies offense as the club rallied from an early 3-0 deficit. In the third inning, the 23-year-old catcher singled to center ield and crossed the plate on Dexter Fowler's homer. He led off with a double to center and scored the tying run on Carlos Gonzalez's RBI double in the sixth, then added a run-scoring single to left in the same frame as Colorado batted around.
Rosario entered the spring in the running for the backup catcher job and has done little to hurt his chances. The Dominican native is batting .471 with six extra-base hits and 11 RBIs in 16 games. Rosario was a Texas League All-Star in 2011, slugging 21 homers for the Tulsa Drillers.
Addison Reed, Chicago's No. 1 prospect, struck out the only batter he faced in relief. Tyler Saladino, the club's No. 9 prospect, was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
