Portland, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce that Reading Phillies right-handed starting pitcher Trevor May has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Month for the month of April. Trevor, who entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the top prospect in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, had a record of 5-0 with 33 strikeouts, eight walks and a 2.40 ERA over 30 innings of work while making five starts in the month of April. The 22-year old made his Double-A debut at FirstEnergy Stadium on April 6th against Portland and allowed four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out six over five innings to earn the win in the R-Phils 9-4 victory. Trevor went on to make four more starts during April and gave up two earned runs or less while striking out six batters or more in each of those four games. May, who is a native of Kelso, Washington, was especially impressive in his start against the Richmond Flying Squirrels on April 25th at First Energy Stadium. The only hit he allowed over six shutout innings was a fifth-inning single and he struck out seven batters and walked two while earning the win in a 1-0 Reading victory.

The 6'5", 215 lb. hurler led all Eastern League pitchers in wins (5) and strikeouts (33) during the month of April. He also finished the month ranked among the league leaders in WHIP (0.97-tied 3rd), innings pitched (30-tied 5th) and batting average against (.196-7th) while becoming the first Eastern League pitcher to end the month of April with a record of 5-0 since Chris Waters of the Bowie Baysox did so during the 2008 season.

Trevor, who was selected as a Florida State League All-Star last season after posting a record of 10-8 with a league-high 208 strikeouts and a 3.63 ERA in 27 starts with the Class-A Clearwater Threshers, was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the fourth round of the 2008 draft out of Kelso High School in Washington.
